Newark's 4th Homicide in 2008

Today, being the 43rd day that Newark has gone without a homicide, has ended with the cities' 4th homicide of the year.

This deadly shooting occured here below, which is just a couple blocks south of the mission:

The Shadow of Peter

There are two hours left in this day. Today was pretty cool. Everything went pretty smooth. Sitting at Jesus' Feet today I got in verse 15 of Chapter 5: the shadow of Peter. Those words are in the middle of the verse.

Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid [them] on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. Act 5:15

I suppose that the reason why we get what we do at Sitting at the Feet of Jesus is not always shown to us the moment we get it. Perhaps it could be for a time when we need the verse (as seems to be my case lately.)

I am nearly all the way well from my sickness that seemed to come out of no where last week. It was so weird and when someone said there was a 24 hour flu going around I could not help but think that is what it was for me. I felt it last Tuesday evening and then it was like I could not move until the next evening (Wednesday evening.) It actually made me a little nervous as I don't remember a time that I have felt that sick in the last 6 years. What gets me most is that it seemed to be like a train hit me for 24 hours and then I was just picking up the pieces.

There are a couple of things that I need to do. Taxes, renew my CDL, renew my medical and get my car running again. My car was running, but Brad (my mechanic friend) said, "The timing belt must have slipped." Don and Phil across the street had put a new one on, but now my car will not start after a week or so of running fine.

There are a couple of weird things that I want to report. The greatest thing that has happened lately is that I figured out (with God's help) how to duplicate CDs (in our new CD tower) without getting any errors. This is an answered prayer and, as far as I am concerned it, a miracle. We where dealing with Kingdom (www.kingdom.com), but they kept disappointing us. I spoke with someone from the technical support department and they are sending a call tag for the old CD duplicator. They are going to test it thoroughly and send it back to us. I would prefer to just get our money back considering how much we spent for the machine and the fact that we now have a duplicator that appears to be working perfectly.

Now our tape duplicator that we got from Kingdom is acting insane. Really it is annoying to have to deal with these kind of problems from brand new machines.

Lastly I would just like to share a couple links to a very cool prophetic ministry. The last link actually goes to Chuck D. Pierce's (from Glory of Zion International Ministries) February 2008 letter. What I really wanted to do was study the letter. We all heard it at Sitting at the Feet of Jesus, but there was so much to ponder that I need to go back and study it.

Be Blessed!!!

Monday Evening

I just wanted to post real quick a video that I found on God Tube. I actually found a really funny one before this one, but I thought that this one was kind of cool so I figured I would just post this one.

A Big Pot of Wa

What do I mean? I mean Potwa.

I am not sure I will ever get the image of a Christian rapper rapping in Patwa that I got tonight...

I am tired. I love Jesus.

I did not know what to expect tonight, but I was delightfully surprised. Maybe one day I too will be able to speak in Potwa...

TROUBLE!!!

Today has proven to be one of those days where I really do not feel like going on. One of those days I just feel like walking away. A bad day... of all days it had to be today that was a bad day. That is what I don't understand.

I do not understand why today had to be a bad day, but my trust in God does not waiver.

Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Job 13:15

I just wanted to post this link to an article about the fact that there has been no reported murders in Newark since I got back from Califronia. Wow!

I got back on the 14th of December and the last reported was on the 13th...

Lets keep that number down Newark! You are doing well!

Praise God!

Laundry a highlight?

Laundry a highlight??? I had to laugh when I read that from yesterday. I have a great life! When doing laundry is a highlight of your day... Wow! I don't even know what to say about that, but I know I do not want to erase it.

Let me explain though - There is a laundry mat down the street from where I live, but lately I have not felt comfortable going in that area. I think it has something to do with Rosco. He is the dude that I took a Snapple bottle of liquor out of his hand (with the help of a friend) and threw it in the back of our parking lot to break it. I didn't know it was full of liquor at the time. All I knew was that he was threatening me with it because I yelled at him to get out of our parking lot. He was not a happy camper before I destroyed it, but afterward he nearly cried. I have never really felt comfortable around this guy. I used to see him around a lot mostly by the laundry mat that is close by. He always asked me for money, but he is strong so I never liked to give him any. It was like dude - you are strong enough to work - why don't you? I never said that to him , but it always crossed my mind when he would ask me for money. Of course though I could smell alcohol a lot on his breath, so maybe that is why he did not work... Anyway I have only seen him once since the parking lot incident. He was about to walk by where I live, but when he saw me he crossed to the other side of the street. I am so leery of this guy, so maybe that is why I do not want to go back to that laundry mat that is close by for the time being. Another thing is that when he used to ask me for money and I refused he would give me a look like he wanted to beat the day lights out of me. That can make a person feel uncomfortable, no? Rosco - what is your deal? One day I am sure the Lord will show me.

May I do the highlights now?

There is practically a blizzard outside. Maybe about two inches, but when you have not seen snow for awhile it can feel like a blizzard - I guess...

Did the foodbank today. Had about 9 pallets of food to unload. We unloaded the truck in about 1 hour which is a record pace for the amount of food we had. We had so much help which made it a great experience.

Sitting at the Feet of Jesus I got the second part of Acts 3:25 - in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

I think that is about it. Over all it has been a real good day.

Highlights

Real quick, here are highlights since I last posted:

I did my laundry earlier tonight at a cool place in I think Maplewood or Irvington.

I posted a lot today on http://www.nj.com/forums/newark/index.ssf.

I learned there that there has not been a recorded murder in Newark since about a month. Apparently that has not happened since like 1998, a decade (wow!)

About the presidential race, I have been led to believe that John McCain will become president and Rudi Giuliani will become vice president. This all because of prophecies brought forth by Kim Clement and a website who recorded the prophecies.

http://kingthunder.wordpress.com/2008/01/11/the-next-president-of-usa/

Of course I can't tell you if it is really going to happen, for I feel that only the Lord really knows that.

That is basically it. I am still looking for a job down at Port Newark. I copied a whole bunch of places I found at: http://www.truckdrivingcdljobs.com/in/New%20Jersey/Port%20Newark/, into my blackberry, but there is a chance I may have not needed to do that.

Also I posted three more messages from the church at: http://faithfullyclever.mypodcast.com/, including Sundays message by Pastor Sam.

I think that is it. I woke up late as usual around noon (normal for a Monday.)

No Sleep

I still can't believe that I saw a whole bunch of girls fighting each other last night. Punching, kicking, pulling hair... Whatever though! The word says that strong drink is a brawler. I will possible attempt to get that scripture from Proverbs later.

Wine [is] a mocker, strong drink [is] raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise. Proverbs 20:1

After work today, I took like a five hour nap. I am not working tomorrow, but I practically am with everything that I need and want to do. Cut my hair, drop off the donut containers, pick up Tilly's Teens, do laundry, stop by the port. I know that I am not going to be able to do everything, but I still need to at least keep it in the back of my mind just in case I am able to do whatever I mentioned.

I got my car back which is cool and an answered prayer, for sure. Don had Phil work on it and Don charged me for the labor ($225 which was a great deal for me.)

I took my car up to Paterson yesterday and it drove great. Problem was though that I did not have any cash, gas or my EZ Pass. I was having problems with my headlights too. It was one of those moments where your whole life feels as if it is about to end. The Lord told me that I was just going to have to trust Him, but that is easier said then done when the pressure is on. I kept asking why? Everything is okay now, but the whole expereince really just made me appriciate all the good times when everything goes smooth.

Blood Sport

I wanted to copy and past what I wrote on the Newark Forums just in case it was deleted. I don't know why, but it happens every once in awhile when someone posts peculiar things. Here is the link and below it is the copy and paste of what I wrote.

http://www.nj.com/forums/newark/index.ssf

Well it appears that link is the best you can do. However the title is: 13284. Blood Sport by faithfullycl, 2/7/08 3:12 ET

Anyone ever see that movie?

Well, I feel I like I just watched the female version of it live.

I attempted to post this earlier, but when I went to go install a spell checker I lost what I wrote. I feel fake writing it all over again, but "it is what it is."

I wrote before that I am sorry for posting so much lately. I don't want to bore anyone as seems the case when someone babbles on and on, post after post.

This one though I just wanted to post because I just witnessed something again for the first time in Newark. An all out chick fight live.

Coming to you live in Newark "The Battle of 20 Women." Now to tell you the truth hearing about something like this here would not surprise me, but actually having the opportunity to just comfortably watch from the safety of my own window does not happen every day.

If this post sounds sexist that is not my intent. My intent is to mock the idea that something like this is considered normal and peaceful around here, for it truly is (especially for a Friday or Saturday night.)

I suppose though what made this unique to me was that there was only women involved. I guess also what I found unique was the fact that I watched the whole thing. Usually it is men and I am not comfortable openly looking out my window when something like that is going on. I did not believe any guns where going to be involved, so that made me more comfortable too. I don't think there are to many 'hood' chicks who carry, compared to the men. I am almost positive if men where involved with this one, shots would have been fired. If not now, later.

Anyway, that is Thursday night for you at Mercedes and Mink.

I will copy and paste this into my blog just in case this post is deleted.

Who is reading this?

Who reads my blog? That is what I want to know. Does anyone (except for myself?)

I voted in the primary elections for Huckabee. I doubt he will win even the primaries though. I just looked and it is McCain who is leading the Republican party in votes for NJ right now.

Don and Phil are working on my car right now. I am so happy! I am finally going to get my car back. I am feeling so sleepy right now. Perhaps I will write more later.

Acts 2:28 is was I got at Sitting at the Feet of Jesus today.

Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

You know what I was thinking that I felt like earlier today? A modern day scribe. I record the church services and as a hobby I have been trying to put them on line. I also personally blog (if you are reading this you can tell that I like to blog,) but I also like journaling on my laptop and my blackberry. Then I will scribble notes into my regular paper notebook if it is more convenient then the last two mentioned. So I have decided that that is what I am: A modern day scribe... Kind of just kidding there. I got to take a nap!

A Giants' Win

Okay, now if anyone says that was not the greatest Superbowl win ever - they do not know what they are talking about. Eli should have been sacked and the receiver never should have caught that ball. Common, he caught the ball on his helmet. If that was not Divine Intervention... Honestly I hate to say that the Lord had anything to do with someone winning a super bowl, but Eli was supposed to get sacked. Not only was he supposed to get sacked, but the guy who caught the ball was never supposed to have caught the football... You can't catch a football on your helmet (with a 250 pound professional football player trying to destroy you) and expect to still have the ball in your possession when you hit the ground. It just does not happen. That was the play that changed and rewrote history... As Jamie put it, "Unbelievable." After that play anything looked possible. With only a small amount of time they made two more great plays. It was third down and they needed to get a first down and go out of bounds. They did it. It was another miracle. Then of course all they needed now was a touch down. Did they get it? Big time! It was then that the game was over. There was still about 30 seconds left on the clock, but in the hearts of everyone the end of the game had already been decided. The Giants had won the 42 Superbowl in history...

Port Newark

Okay, I did go down to Best today and I spoke with Patrick. He said there would be a problem with my work experience and their insurance company, but what he recommended I do is seek employment with another company in the port. Then in about no less then 6 months come back and talk to him. I am so intimidated with the port, but I did take a quick look around. I saw a couple of companies, but I think that when I get my car running I could really take more time, explore and apply to a number of places. I can't give up now. Lee and I just set a date. I need to find a job down there...

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matthew 7:7
